News: RUMAWIP Branding No Longer Used For Affordable Housing Matters

Feb 26, 2020

The Federal Territories Ministry has ceased using the RUMAWIP branding in matters relating to affordable housing, following the Federal Territories Affordable Housing Project’s rebranding to Residensi Wilayah, reported Bernama.

Despite this, the ministry still received complaints about fake advertisements that offer RUMAWIP housing projects.

“Fraud syndicates offering affordable housing at low prices are using the ministry’s logo and the RUMAWIP logo to confuse buyers,” said the Ministry’s Secretary-General Datuk Rosida Jaafar.

Aside from the logos, the syndicate also issued fake application letters with the ministry’s letterhead on it, as well as forged signatures of its officers.

Rosida clarified that the ministry did not appoint anyone as its agent to apply for the Residensi Wilayah since its launch on 8 April 2013.

Further, applications for Residensi Wilayah could only be coursed through its official portal.

“All application matters including correspondence will be system generated and online. The offer notice will also be sent via email registered by the applicant,” she said.

Under the Housing Development (Control and Licensing) Regulations 1989, which aims to protect the interests of buyers and maintain compliance with regulations under Act 118, any form of payments from the applicants including commitment fees cannot be collected by developers prior to the signing of sales and purchase agreement.

Rosida reminded that any complaints regarding such collection of payments may be directly submitted to the National Housing Department’s Integrated Complaint System
